Welcome to the Madison County Public Corruption Task Force
The Madison County Public Corruption Task Force was born out of necessity, created by grassroots activists determined to expose the truth and challenge the corruption that others would rather ignore. When an out-of-circuit judge ordered the largest public corruption investigation in Southern Illinois history to be disbanded, it became clear that the County Board—too cowardly to confront the illegal actions of the task force—preferred to bury the issue rather than seek justice.
We refuse to stand by while those in power evade accountability. Our nonprofit organization is dedicated to investigating the misconduct that the County Board has shamefully ignored. We are not afraid to take on the tough battles that others shy away from. Our mission is simple: to bring transparency to Madison County and ensure that those who abuse their power are held accountable.
As a coalition of concerned citizens, legal experts, and investigative professionals, we work tirelessly to uncover the truth and demand the justice that the people of Madison County deserve. We are not a law enforcement agency, but a determined group of individuals committed to protecting our community from corruption.
The investigation you are about to learn about began with the publication of incriminating documents discovered through a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request by a former State's Attorney employee. These documents revealed illegal campaigning within the State’s Attorney’s office and a misogynistic culture of drinking and gambling at taxpayer expense.
All of the documents you are about to see were gathered through the Freedom of Information Act from case files and government agencies. NBC Nightly News serves as a vantage point to provide broader context to what was happening nationally and remind the public of the larger scope.
Contrary to what the County Board tells the public, the investigation was meant to cover up illegal practices within the State’s Attorney’s office. With no evidence of crimes beyond the State’s Attorney’s office, the State’s Attorney initiated a cover-up, enlisting a County Board member who willingly lied and an opportunistic appointed treasurer who turned against their party and their oath of office. This is the truth.
